Located west of Tampa Bay are the barrier islands of Florida's West Coast.  One of the most popular beaches on these islands is known as Indian Rocks Beach, Florida.  Indian Rocks Beach consists of 2.7 miles of sandy, warm beaches along the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. This community was developed in the 1920's as a weekend getaway. The beach provides some of the most relaxing recreation the Gulf Coast has to offer, including water skiing, parasailing, diving and some of the most incredible shelling in the State of Florida. Locals refer to Indian Rocks Beach aptly as "14 miles of Heaven".  

 

This quiet community consists of more than 5,000 residents with many businesses and some of the most delectable restaurants that the waterfront is known for.  Although, Indian Rocks Beach is located on an island, it is easily accessible to Tampa.  With its many local attractions, such as Indian Rocks Area Historical Society, Beach Art Center, Johns' Pass Village and the Gulf Beaches Historical Museum, one might say there would never be a reason to leave the island.
