Just north of Dunedin, on the beautiful Gulf of Mexico, lies the cozy communities of Ozona and Palm Harbor, Florida. Both of these towns were founded by J.C. Craver. The Craver family arrived in Florida in the winter of 1877 for health reasons. This area was originally known as Sutherland. It is unknown if the name was derived from a shortening of the Southern Land and Development Co. which was the group that platted the community or if the name was in honor of the Duke of Sutherland who once visited these parts. In the late 1800's the railroad began coming through the area and two gorgeous hotels were constructed. The larger of the two became Southern College in 1902.
Today, Palm Harbor is the home to the many golf courses and water sport facilities. Due to the direct access to the Gulf, fishing, diving, boating, swimming and paddling offers a day of outdoor recreation in Palm Harbor. The Pinellas Trail, located in Palm Harbor consists of 34 miles of jogging, walking, biking and nature watching. With a perfect combination of a small town community and the amenities that larger cities have to offer, make Palm Harbor a prime place to live.
Real Estate options include beautiful town homes, villas, single family homes in all shape and sizes and condominiums. Whether you choose to live on the golf course, the lake or on the gulf, Palm Harbor offers the "old Florida" town with the modern lifestyle.
